Abstract:
To provide a universal joint that can provide required bending in laying a duct on a seabed, returns to the minimum bending state after the laying, and can reduce energy required for water intake by reducing resistance in the duct and in the joint due to bending of the duct during water intake, and also provide a laying method of the duct using the universal joint.
A bend part of a bend pipe 22 is cut rectangularly to the center of the bend pipe 22, and mutually facing cut surfaces 2 are mounted rotatably via flanges 24 and 25 disposed on the cut surfaces 2 respectively.
