Abstract:

To provide a variable cycle engine capable of suppressing the deterioration of an engine output.

In the variable cycle engine 10, cams 73, 74 for actuating an intake valve 85 and an exhaust valve are mounted on a camshaft 26 so as to be switchable. The camshaft 26 is driven by a crankshaft 11 to switch between four cycle and six cycle. The cam for six cycle of the cams 73, 74 is composed of a first intake cam 75 having two cam crests and a first exhaust cam 77 having two cam crests. The cam for four cycle of the cams is composed of a second intake cam 76 having three cam crests and a second exhaust cam 78 having three cam crests.
