To prevent the generation of a shock at a speed change in a vehicle which travels using a motor as a drive source.
This vehicle control system includes: the motor as the drive source; a transmission interposed between the motor and drive wheels; a clutch arranged on a transmission passage from the motor to the drive wheels; a clutch controller which reduces a transmission torque capacity of the clutch during traveling by a drive force of the motor, shifts the clutch to a slip fastened state from a fastened state, and holds the slip fastened state; and a speed-change clutch controller which increases the transmission torque capacity of the clutch, and shifts the clutch to the fastened state (S4, S7) when the speed change of the transmission is started while the clutch is held in the slip fastened state by the clutch controller (S2).
