To provide a vehicular control unit capable of suppressing degradation in drivability occurring when an engine is started during motor rolling of a vehicle including the engine and an electric motor.
When an engine is started during motor rolling, an electronic control unit raises an engine rotating speed through slip engagement of an engine disconnection clutch K0. After the engine can autonomously rotate, the electronic control unit implements engine start control under which after engagement force of the engine disconnection clutch K0 is tentatively lowered, the engine disconnection clutch K0 is fully engaged. As an electric motor rotating speed is higher, an intake valve opening/closing timing is advanced earlier. Accordingly, as the electric motor rotating speed is higher, an engine torque is increased. This overcomes such a drawback that a time required until the engine rotating speed is synchronized with the electric motor rotating speed gets longer because of the high electric motor rotating speed. Eventually, degradation in drivability can be suppressed.
