This vertical baking furnace 10 has a first heating furnace 12 composed of a furnace tube 36 vertical disposed and a heating source 52 disposed around the furnace tube, a backed material charging device 14 disposed at an upper part of the furnace tube and dropping the powered backed material into the tube, an atmosphere gas charging device for charging an atmosphere gas from an upper end portion 38 of the furnace tube, an exhausting device 104 drawing an exhaust gas including the atmosphere gas from a lower end portion of the furnace tube, and cooling and discharging the exhaust gas, and a second heating furnace 16 heating and holding the baked object at least partially baked and dropped, at a lower end portion of the furnace tube for a specific time.
