To provide a washing device wherein a washing effect on soil which has entered between fibers of clothes is further increased, and which can surely wash a persistent and hard-to-clean soil having entered between fibers of clothes without damaging the fiber.

As an agitating means of an actuator for reciprocating agitations, a supermagnetostrictor element 2 is used, and at the tip end section of a plunger 7 of the supermagnetostrictor 2, an amplitude expanding mechanism comprising a lever 12 and a spring 15 for the lever returning, is provided. At the same time, a brush 14 is attached to the tip end section of the lever 12 for this washing device. In such a washing device, the brush 14 is attached in such a manner that the bristle direction of a bristle 14b may become in parallel with the vibration direction of the lever 12. Also, the supermagnetostrictor 2 is driven in such a manner that the vibration frequency of the brush 14 may become 50 Hz to 1 KHz, and the vibration amplitude may become 0.5 to 5 mm. Also, the tip end of the bristle 14b of the brush 14 is formed into a ridge-form cut shape, and at the same time, the bristle tenacity strength of the bristle 14b is set in a range of 2 to 20 Kg.f/cm2.
