To provide a washing and drying machine that exhibits excellent workability when laundry is suspended to be dried, makes the laundry difficult to be supported at a tub bottom to thereby suppress creases of the laundry caused by drying, and has a structural portion for suspending-dry which hardly gets dirty and does not become obstructive.

A washing and drying machine 1 is provided that includes: an outer case 10 having an opening opened upward; a spin-dry tub 30 provided within the outer case 10 and into which laundry is introduced through the opening; a cover portion 15 for opening and closing the opening; and a hook 18 provided within the cover portion 15 and on which a hanger 2 having an object to be dried put thereon is hanged. The washing and drying machine 1 performs a washing operation for washing the laundry introduced into the spin-dry tub 30, and a suspending-dry operation for drying the object to be dried that is hanged from the hook 18 toward into the spin-dry tub 30. The hook 18 can be housed in or detachable from the cover portion 15.
