To provide a washing and drying machine in which an air path is surely opened and closed with an exhaust valve.
A driving device for opening and closing the air path 40 with the exhaust valve 70 includes: a motor 76 rotating in one direction; a cam 78 mounted to the output shaft 77 of the motor; a link mechanism 80 which interconnects the output shaft 77 and the exhaust valve 70 and causes the exhaust valve 70 to operate by the rotation of the output shaft 77; an open detection switch SW2 and a close detection switch SW1 abutting on the cam 78 and detecting the opening and closing of the air path 40 with the exhaust valve 70; and a controller C (control means) for controlling the operation of the motor 76 based on the output of each switch. When the air path 40 is opened and closed with the exhaust valve 70, the controller C operates the motor 76 during only a predetermine opening period and closing period from a predetermined origin. When determining a failure of opening or closing based on the output of each detection switch after the operation, the controller C collects the opening period or closing period and operates the motor 76 again.
