To provide a washing machine and its drying operation control method in which the drying operation is started after checking that a lid is closed, the lid is prevented from being opened during the drying operation, a lid switch can be dispensed with, a lid locking device can be easily accommodated in a limited space below a top cover, the lid can be reliably locked in an interlocking manner with the closing of the lid, and the reliability and the economy are improved.
In this washing machine in which an outer tub is hung in an outer tank in an oscillating manner, rotatably has a spinning tub having a rotary blade on a bottom and set in the outer tub, the spinning tub is covered with a top cover having a clothes throw-in port on an upper part of the outer tank, has a lid for opening/closing the clothes throw-in port, and has a lid locking device 10 to lock the lid in a non-openable manner during the drying operation, a lid lock preventive plate 18 as a lid locking preventive means for preventing the operation of the lid locking device 10 when the lid 5 is opened, is provided.
