The washing machine includes the steam supply means 5 for supplying steam to the inside of a rotary drum 3 which is supplied with laundry A and rotated. An operation control part 6 for controlling the operation of the washing machine operates the steam supply means 5 during the rinsing operation performed after a washing operation, supplies the steam generated by a steam generator 53 and jetted from a steam jet nozzle 59 through an opening 30 at the front to the inside of the rotary drum 3, and accelerates the removal of stains and detergent components remaining on the laundry by the action of the supplied steam.
