Abstract:

PURPOSE: To operate in an interlocking manner a controller in the upper part of a washing machine and a driving unit, such as a motor, in the lower part of the washing machine substantially without electric connections.

CONSTITUTION: A washing machine comprises an upper circuit positioned in the upper part thereof and a lower circuit positioned in the lower part thereof. The upper circuit is comprised of a key providing means 2, a display means 3, a controlling means 4 for controlling a driving unit, such as a motor, a serial signal converting means 5 for converting a controlling signal to a serial signal, and a light transmitting and receiving means 6 for transmitting and receiving a serial signal by means of light. The lower circuit is comprised of a driving means 10 for driving a driving unit, such as a motor, a light transmitting and receiving means 8 for transmitting and receiving light and a serial signal converting means 9. An electric power is supplied from an electric power means in the lower part of the washing machine to the upper circuit and lower circuit.
