The weft-cutting apparatus for the loom is equipped with a fixed cutter blade 1, a movable cutter blade 2 which is rotatable, and an biasing member 5 for bringing the fixed cutter blade and the movable cutter blade into contact with each other. The fixed cutter blade and the movable cutter blade are formed of cutting parts 12 and 22, and base parts 13 and 23 which continue from the cutting parts and include the center of rotation, respectively. At least one base part of the fixed cutter blade and the movable cutter blade is equipped with a protruding part 16, in a region which is on the opposite side to the side of the cutting parts to the center of rotation and which is normally opposite to the other side during rotation of the movable cutter blade 2, protruding toward the other side. The fixed cutter blade and the movable cutter blade are brought into contact with each other by the biasing member only in two sites of the protruding part and each blade tip of the cutting parts.
