Title:
WHEEL ALIGNMENT MEASURING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3088567
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide accurate measurability for the toe amount and camber angle by measuring the tire distances from different parts on the basis of the time from the light being emitted by a light emitting means till returning upon being reflected by the tire surface.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary disc 3 is installed at the tip of a rotary shaft 20 rotatably pivoted by an X-moving body, which advances and retreats in the axial direction of an axle tying the left and right tires 17, and a Y-moving body moving in the vertical direction in such a way as confronting the surface 17a of any tire 17 and rotating together with the rotary shaft 20. An aligning means puts the rotational center of the tire 17 identical to the rotational center of the rotary disc 3. A light emitting means 4 emits light of specific wavelength toward the outer surface of the tire 17 at certain minute intervals. A light receiving means 5 receives the light which has returned upon being reflcted by different places on the tire surface 17a. A calculating means 6 calculates the toe amount or toe angle and the camber angle on the basis of the time elapsed for the light to be transferred from the light emitting means 4 till the receiving means 5.
