Title:
WIDE ANGLE WHEEL ALIGNMENT SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2663324
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To carry out vehicle damage assessment by including an angle measurement means, a means for directing the angle measurement means and a means for providing measured angle outputs, in a wheel position measurement system for a vehicle.
CONSTITUTION: A frame center line 12 and a geometric center line 13 do not coincide in a front wheel offset. Center lines do not coincide because front wheels A and B are not positioned symmetrically with rear wheels C and D. The center point between the front wheels A and B may be seen to be offset by a distance M from the frame center line. The front wheel offset is therefore a distance M. There is no front wheel offset when the frame center line 12 and the geometric center line 13 coincide in a rear wheel setback. However, the left rear wheel C is positioned forward of the right rear wheel D. As a result, the rear wheel setback in the amount equivalent to the dimension N exists in the supporting wheels.
