Abstract:
A wire rope is provided having a central core 16 about which are wound seven wire strands 14. The central core 16 has a central lubricated core strand 17 about which are wound a plurality of outer lubricated core strands 18. The central core is encapsulated with thermoplastic material 22 to retain lubricant 20 within the central core 16. The thermoplastic material 22 may extend beyond the outer diametrical limits of the central core 16 and the wire strands 14 may be embedded in the thermoplastic material.
