PURPOSE: To adjust a mandrel to an optimum position during the operation of a wire twisting machine by shifting the mandrel in the axial direction of a hollow shaft.
CONSTITUTION: A mandrel 48 is held with a tip fitting 46 slidably attached to a stationary fitting 44 with a spline bonding part 88. The stationary fitting 44 is fixed to a stationary pipe 60 passing through a hollow shaft 32 and fixed in nonrotatable state. A feed screw 80 is rotated by a motor 70 attached to a tip hollow shaft 38. An outer case 74 engaged with the feed screw 80 is rotatably connected to the tip fitting 46 with a bearing 78. The tip fitting 46 connected to the outer case 74 is slid along the stationary pipe 60 by the motion of the outer case 74 sliding by the rotation of the motor 70. The mandrel 48 is shifted in the axial direction of the hollow shaft by this procedure.
