To provide an improved device for receiving an xDSL splitter into an existing network interface device by fitting a splitter module at a boundary point in a network interface device between a pair of outside plant wirings and a pair of the first and second inner subscriber lines.
A splitter module 16 has a block 40 having the width of two adjacent fitting positions and having fitting foot prints fitted to the two fitting positions so that they can be removed. A base 42 has a wall and has tabs which have the width of the two fitting positions and are detached so that they are appropriately engaged each other astride the two fitting positions in a network interface device NID 12. It is desirable that the base 42 has sufficient space for storing xDSL splitter circuit components.
