Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject colorant, assuming a bright light yellow to greenish yellow color, excellent in thermal stability and useful as medicines, foods, etc., by using a mixture of berberine or ethacridine, etc., as a coloring active ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: The objective colorant containing berberine or ethacridine or its acid addition salt (e.g. berberine sulfate or ethacridine lactate) or a mixture thereof as a coloring active ingredient. Furthermore, the aforementioned colorant in an amount of preferably 0.008-0.15% based on an edible product, e.g. a tablet, granule or jelly to be colored is added to the aforementioned edible product.
