An aspect of the invention is a zone controller 10 for a predetermined control zone picked from a plurality of zones for control into which a roller conveyor line 1 is divided and which are arrangeable in a row in the direction of conveyance, being capable of controlling operation of a driving roller 4a for conveyance provided in the particular zone, having a mode-setting means 14 capable of switching between a simultaneous conveyance mode and a separate conveyance mode. In the simultaneous conveyance mode, articles in the control zones are conveyed uniformly to downstream, maintaining the arrangement state of the articles in the conveying direction. In the separate conveyance mode, the articles are conveyed separately to downstream with a predetermined number of control zones in which no article exists preserved between the control zones in which the articles exist.
