PURPOSE: To settle such problem points that it takes time for obtaining final image data, it costs to install a document editing device in all systems, it is troublesome to master all operation procedures of various document editing devices, and it takes time for actuating the document editing device for perusal, with regard to the document display editing system for generating an image which becomes an input to an image output device from the documents of various formats.

CONSTITUTION: The system is provided with document display devices 14, 15 and 16 containing converting means 141, 151 and 161 for converting documents A1, A2 and A3 to image data A1', A2' and A3' and display means 142, 152 and 162 for displaying image data A1, A2 and A3, and an image exclusive editing device 17 for inputting the image data A1', A2' and A3' and generating image data A which becomes an input of an image output device 18, in addition to document editing devices 11, 12 and 13 for editing documents A1, A2 and A3 having a specific format.
