This power supply equipment is so constituted that, at first, the main battery 34 is used in the backup operation and, when the voltage of the main battery 34 becomes, for example, 3.15 V or less, the backup is performed based on a boosting voltage by a boosting circuit 14, and the backup by the boosting is made to continue, for example, till the voltage of the main battery 34 lowers to 2.7 V to use up the main battery 34. After using up the main battery 34, the backup function by the sub-battery is started, when its voltage becomes 3.15 V or less, the backup is performed based on the boosting voltage by the boosting circuit 14, and the backup by the boosting is made to continue, for example, till the voltage of the sub-battery 35 lowers to 2.7 V to use up the sub-battery 35.
