Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively display within the field of view of a first observing means an image observed in real time by a second observing means, while correlating the image with an image observed by the first observing means. SOLUTION: This surgical observation system has a surgical microscope 1 for observing a portion A to be operated on, and an ultrasonic probe 37 differing from the surgical microscope 1 in at least either one of observing direction or method. The observing positions and directions of the surgical microscope 1 and the ultrasonic probe 37 relative to the portion A to be operated on are detected, and an image observed by the ultrasonic probe 37 is displayed on a predetermined portion of an image observed by the surgical microscope 1, while the former is visually correlated with the latter according to the detection result.
