Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently recover a copper content by continuously measuring gaseous sulfur oxide concn. in the gas generated from slag and stopping flow-out of the slag when the measured value becomes a prescribed value, at the time of flowing out the slag from a converter or a ladle.

CONSTITUTION: At the time of flowing out the slag produced in the copper converter into the ladle or flowing out the slag poured into the ladle, a part having little content of white metal (sulfide of copper) in the slag is flowed out and a part having much content of the white metal in the bottom side is remained into the converter or the ladle to separated a part having much content of the white metal from that having little content of the white metal in the slag. At the time of flowing out the slag from the converter or the ladle, a gaseous sulfur oxide concn. measuring instrument is fitted to a duct of a closed type fume collecting hood in a slag casting machine and the gaseous sulfur oxide concn. is continuously measured, and when this concn. reaches the preset value, the flow-out of the slag is stopped. Decision of the point of time when the part having much white metal content starts to flow out, is precisely executed and the recovery of the copper content is efficiently executed.
