Abstract:
PURPOSE:To separate and recover two active components consisting of a hot component and a peroxidase from a cruciferous plant at the same time, by using supercritical carbon dioxide or liquefied carbon dioxide as an extraction solvent. CONSTITUTION:A cruciferous plant (e.g. raw horseradish) is thrown into a cooling tank 1, frozen e.g. with liquid nitrogen and pulverized with a pulverizer 2 in frozen state. The obtained frozen powder is filled in an extraction tank 3 and heated to cause enzymatic reaction and produce a hot component (allyl isothiocyanate). At the same time, supercritical carbon dioxide is introduced into the extraction tank 3 at >=30 deg.C and >=75 atm or liquid carbon dioxide is introduced at 20 deg.C under 200 atom to extract the produced hot component to the solvent. The solvent is transferred to a separation tank 4 and separated into a liquid phase and a gaseous phase by reducing the pressure. The gaseous phase is released from the system to selectively separate and recover the hot component. A peroxidase can be extracted and separated from the residue left in the extraction tank 3 by the conventional method.
