To accurately control stop of an electric vehicle using an inexpensive Hall IC while minimizing the influence of an error component.
The electric vehicle 100 includes: a control lever 82; an axle 102; a motor 10 whose rotation is controlled based on an operation instruction from the control lever 82; a transmission mechanism 106 for transmitting the torque of the motor 10 to the axle; an electromagnetic brake 108 for braking the rotation of the motor 10; and a speed detection circuit 50 that detects the rotation speed of the motor 10 based on a series of pulse signals generated during the rotation of the motor 10. When an operation instruction from the control lever 82 indicates stop of the rotation of the motor 10 and a pulse signal from the speed detection circuit 50 falls twice after the rotation of the motor 10 is controlled and decelerated by an electronic control unit 104, the electromagnetic brake 108 stops the rotation of the motor 10.
