PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a heat-sensitive recording medium or heat-sensitive recording label having improved cutting suitability when cutting and processing suitability when die-cutting; and a base material of these.SOLUTION: Provided is a heat-sensitive recording medium, heat-sensitive recording label, or base material for these, comprising: an undercoat layer on a substrate, containing pigment; and a heat-sensitive recording layer on the undercoat layer, containing an electron-donating leuco dye and an electron-accepting developer. The undercoat layer contains a fatty acid metal salt or fatty acid amide as a lubricant, or a clear layer is provided between the substrate and the undercoat layer and the clear layer contains a fatty acid metal salt or fatty acid amide as a lubricant.SELECTED DRAWING: None
