Disclosed is a 5G-based smart home monitoring system and method. The smart home monitoring system comprises a 5G internet platform and a smart terminal. The 5G internet platform is connected to a smart home system by means of a 5G smart home gateway. The smart home system comprises an electric appliance control subsystem, an indoor brightness control subsystem, an indoor temperature control subsystem and a health management subsystem. The smart home system receives a control command issued by the 5G Internet platform by means of the 5G smart home gateway, and executes the control command. The smart terminal has a unique login account on the 5G internet platform, and a user uploads to the 5G Internet platform a control command for remotely controlling the smart home system by means of the smart terminal. The present disclosure is able to not only perform smart control of household appliance and the environment, but also monitor the health of family members by means of the health management subsystem, thereby enriching the functions of the smart home system.
