Abstract:
The present invention provides an agent that is for inhibiting the decrease of muscle mass and that is characterized by containing a ghrelin receptor agonist as an active ingredient and by being used for administration during a fasting period to a patient requiring fasting, such as a patient who is to be subjected to excision of gastrointestinal cancer, a patient suffering from gastrointestinal obstruction caused by gastrointestinal cancer, a patient to which enteral nutrition is not applicable due to infection in the abdomen, a patient requiring fasting therapy due to intestinal obstruction, or a patient requiring fasting therapy due to gastrointestinal ischemia or gastrointestinal hemorrhage.
