Abstract:
Disclosed is an agent for maintaining the healthy state of the gum, maintaining the healthy state of the gingival, maintaining the healthy state of tissues that support teeth, preventing, treating or ameliorating periodontal diseases, maintaining the healthy state of periodontal tissues, or inhibiting the resorption of alveolar bones. Also disclosed are a food, a beverage, a composition for oral application, and a pharmaceutical composition, each of which contains an active ingredient having the above-mentioned activities. Specifically disclosed are an agent for maintaining the healthy state of the gum, an agent for maintaining the healthy state of the gingiva, an agent for maintaining the healthy state of tissues that support teeth, a prophylactic/treating/ameliorating agent for periodontal diseases, an agent for maintaining the healthy state of periodontal tissues, and an agent for inhibiting the resorption of alveolar bones, each of which comprises at least one component selected from oleuropein and degraded products thereof. Also specifically disclosed are a food, a beverage, a composition for oral application, and a pharmaceutical composition, each of which comprises any one of the above-mentioned agents.
