Abstract:
Provided is an air damper for which the braking force can easily be adjusted while achieving a more compact cylinder. This air damper 10 has a cylinder 20 and a piston 30, and a cross section orthogonal to the axial direction of a cylinder wall portion has a cross-sectional shape having a long axis and a short axis. The piston 30 has a head section 31 and a shaft section 33. A first chamber R1 and a second chamber R2 are formed inside the cylinder. The shaft section 33 has a valve body housing section 40 arranged inside the second chamber R2, and a valve seat 41 is provided inside the valve body housing section 40. The piston 30 has a communication path 45, and an opening 46 on the second chamber R2 side thereof is positioned inside the valve seat 41. A valve body 60 for opening/closing the second opening 46 is housed in the valve body housing section 40. The valve seat 41 faces a wall portion inner surface along the long axis of the cylinder 20.
