A liquid-crystal compound represented by general formula (1) and having low-temperature compatibility; a liquid-crystal composition comprising the same and having low threshold voltage, high pretilt angle, high voltage retention, and low temperature dependency; and a liquid-crystal display element made by using the same, wherein R�0? to R�2? represent each an alkyl group; rings A�0? to A�3? represent each a phenylene group or the like; Z�0? to Z�3? represent each -CH�2?CH�2?- or the like; Q�1? and Q�2? represent each a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom; Q�3? represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or an R�2?O group; and l, m, n, and o are each 0 to 2, provided that 1 + m + n + o$m(F)3.
