Abstract:
Provided are an aluminum alloy blank for a magnetic disk and an aluminum alloy substrate for a magnetic disk which have a high attenuation factor. The aluminum alloy blank for a magnetic disk and the aluminum alloy substrate for a magnetic disk each include 1.00-10 mass% Mn, with the remainder consisting of Al and unavoidable impurities, and the number density of intermetallic compounds having a maximum length of 0.2-15.0 µm on the surface of the blank or the substrate is 1.5×105/mm2 or higher.
