Abstract:
Provided are: an aluminum alloy substrate for a magnetic disk; and a magnetic disk using same. The aluminum alloy substrate is composed of an aluminum alloy containing 1.0-6.5 mass% of Mg, with the remainder comprising Al and inevitable impurities, wherein the distribution of Si-K-O-based particles having a maximum diameter of at least 1 μm adhering to the surface from the surrounding environment is not more than 1/6000 mm2, and the distribution of Ti-B-based particles having a maximum diameter of at least 1 μm on the surface is not more than 1/6000 mm2.
