Abstract:
Aluminum nitride particles in each of which multiple flat surfaces that form crests or valleys are randomly present on the surface as observed in a scanning electron microscopic image taken at 500-fold magnification, wherein the angle of each of the crests or the valleys is an obtuse angle, said aluminum nitride particles being characterized in that the longer diameter L of each of the particles is 20 to 200 μm, the ratio of the longer diameter L (unit: μm) to the shorter diameter D (unit: μm) of each of the particles, i.e., an L/D ratio, is 1 to 1.25 inclusive, and the area S (unit: μm2) of at least one of the multiple flat surfaces meets the requirement represented by the formula: S/L ≥ 1.0 μm.
