This aniline derivative, which comprises a metaphenylene repeating unit in a molecule as represented in the formula, exhibits good solubility in an organic solvent, yields a thin film with good transparency, and, in the case of applying said thin film to a hole injection layer, yields an organic EL element that has excellent characteristics.
