Abstract:
An antenna structure and a method of fabricating the same. The antenna structure comprising a disc-shaped Luneburg Lens, LL, comprising a plurality of dielectric posts arranged in concentric shells with a number of dielectric posts increasing in successive ones of the concentric shells from a centre of the LL, the dielectric posts arranged perpendicularly to a plane of the LL; and two disc-shaped plate elements disposed parallel to the plane of the LL and sandwiching the dielectric posts of the LL therebetween forming a parallel-plate waveguide, PPW; wherein the number and a radius of the dielectric posts in each shell is determined based on effective medium theory such that the LL exhibits energy focusing of a feed signal.
