Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus for decontaminating a radioactively contaminated material using a laser, which comprises: a frame rotatably supporting an object, which has a surface contaminated by radioactivity, to be processed; a pipe rotating unit installed on the frame to rotate the object to be processed with respect to a longitudinal central line; and a light irradiation unit that irradiates a laser on the outer circumferential surface of the object to be processed so as to heat a radioactively contaminated layer to separate the radioactively contaminated layer stuck to the object to be processed from the object to be processed by means of thermal expansion. The apparatus for decontaminating a radioactively contaminated material using a laser according to the present invention irradiates the laser while rotating the object to be processed by the pipe rotating unit, such that the radioactively contaminated layer of a pipe can be uniformly heated, thereby increasing decontamination efficiency and reducing decontamination time. Moreover, the apparatus for decontaminating a radioactively contaminated material using a laser according to the present invention removes the radioactively contaminated layer formed on the surface of the object to be processed by using the laser, thereby remarkably reducing the generation of a secondary contaminant in comparison with a conventional wet decontamination process using chemicals. Furthermore, the apparatus for decontaminating a radioactively contaminated material using a laser according to the present invention can be controlled by a worker transmitting a control signal for each device at a remote location through a terminal, thereby preventing radiation exposure of the worker.
