Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus for detecting a corneal ulcer on the basis of image processing, and a method therefor. According to the present invention, the apparatus comprises: an image input unit for receiving the input of an eyeball image by photographing the cornea of an examinee; a pre-processing unit for extracting a region of interest from the inputted eyeball image, and pre-processing the image by using the RGB value of each pixel included in the extracted region of interest, so the boundary between a region corresponding to a background and a region corresponding to an ulcer is distinguished; an ulcer region detection unit for deriving a threshold value according to a pixel value distribution in the region of interest, and detecting an ulcer region by applying a flood-fill algorithm in which the region corresponding to the ulcer is expanded with respect to a reference pixel by using the derived threshold value; and an output unit for generating an outline of the detected ulcer region, and marking the generated outline on an original copy of the eyeball image to output same. According to the present invention, a threshold value derived through an Otsu method is used so that a region is expanded with respect to a reference point selected by a random reference point selection algorithm, and thus the accuracy of detection can be increased in detecting of an ulcer region. In addition, according to the present invention, an objective result can be derived by minimizing user intervention, and a medical treatment result having improved reliability with respect to a medical treatment objective can be provided to a medical team and a patient.
