Abstract:
An apparatus for checking diametral dimensions of crankpins (18) and main journals (38) in the course of the grinding includes a head (39) with a Vee-shaped reference device (20) and an axially movable feeler (17), along a direction that contacts the surface of the pin (18, 38) to be checked, and an articulated support device (9, 12, 15), coupled to the grinding wheel slide (1) that carries the head (39) and enables it to contact with the surface of the pin (18, 38) during possible orbital rotations. A transducer (41) in the head (39) cooperates with the feeler (17) for detecting its displacements, and transmits signals to a processing and display device (22), in turn connected with the computer numerical control (33) of the grinding machine. The processing and display device (22) processes the transducer signals with compensation values or coefficients stored in a memory unit (24) for obtaining measuring signals output by the head (39) that vary in a linear way in a wide range, and for compensating errors due to temperature variations.
