Abstract:
An apparatus for forming workpieces (30) with rounded ends especially for use as webs in timber roof trusses. The apparatus includes a feeding system for feeding workpieces (30) into a row (32) of workpieces arranged along a path of travel and cyclically advancing the row along the path to a rotary cutter tool (48). A movable conveyor (40) receives workpieces thereon and delivers each workpiece sequentially to a loading position (42) adjacent the upstream end of the path of travel. A pushing device (36) is at the upstream end of the path. A common drive shaft (95) simultaneously powers the conveyor and the pushing device. A stop bar (140) prevents movement of the workpieces in a direction generally transverse the path of travel while the cutter tool (48) is shaping the ends.
