Abstract:
A microparticle spraying apparatus where arrangement of microparticles on a substrate having electrodes can be controlled accurately, especially a microparticle spraying apparatus where spacers can be arranged selectively in the gaps between electrodes where no pixel exists even for a substrate having a stripe electrodes employed in an STN liquid crystal display, a spraying method employing the microparticle spraying apparatus and a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display. The microparticle spraying apparatus for arranging charged microparticles selectively on a substrate having a plurality of electrodes comprises a spray bath for placing the substrate, a microparticle supply unit for supplying microparticles into the spray bath and spraying microparticles onto the substrate, and a unit for applying a voltage to the electrodes, wherein the voltage applying unit can apply voltages of different voltage levels to the electrodes, respectively.
