Abstract:
An Augmented Reality (AR) system has a safety application (30) which generates an alert signal for transmission to the wearer (2) of a wearable device (1) in response to detection of a potential threat or danger (9), reported either by sensors (13, 14) on the wearable device itself or by a remote warning system (8) responding to reports (91) of hazards at the user's reported current location (81) or scheduled future location (80). The user is required to acknowledge the reports, the acknowledgement signals (98) being transmitted to the warning system (8). Failure to receive an expected acknowledgement (10) causes the warning system to alert a management function, so that the wearer's failure to respond to the hazard warning can be investigated.
