Abstract:

To narrow down the quantity of items of information to be collated with information on an object in question while improving the security level when performing collation that uses the characteristics of a physical body, an authentication server (2) creates a correlation between a security code and characteristic pattern information for the surface of each of one or more to-be-registered objects in question, stores the result in a database, acquires the security code and the characteristic pattern information for the surface of the to-be-authenticated object in question according to an authentication request, extracts from the database the characteristic pattern information stored after being correlated with the security code that pertains to the authentication request, and determines whether the characteristic pattern information that corresponds to the characteristic pattern information pertaining to the authentication request is included in the extracted characteristic pattern information.
