Abstract:
The present invention pertains to an automatic transmission (1) equipped with: a brake device (80) having a friction plate set (81) wherein stationary-side friction plates (81a) and rotation-side friction plates (81b) are alternately arranged, pistons (85, 86), and hydraulic pressure chambers (92, 89) to which hydraulic pressure for moving the pistons (85, 86) toward the friction plate set is supplied; a first rotating member (62); and second and third rotating members (42, 72) arranged on either side in the axial direction of the first rotating member (62) and having a smaller outer diameter than the outer diameter of the first rotating member (62). The friction plate set (81) and the hydraulic pressure chambers (92, 89) are arranged on either side in the axial direction of the first rotating member (62) and on the outer circumferential side of the second and third rotating members (42, 72), and the pistons (85, 86) extend from the hydraulic chambers (92, 89) past the outer circumferential side of the first rotating member (62) and toward the friction plate set. Thus, the present invention can be configured compactly in the axial direction.
