Title:
AUTOMATIC ZIPPER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2022/010695
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The Automatic Zipper was designed for those who on occasion forget to zip up their pants or those whose zipper slides down over time. The primary purpose of this device is to ensure that the zipper goes up and stays up until the individual decides he wants his zipper down. This will help the individual avoid an embarrassing moment of partially exposing his self. The automatic feature of this device, relieves the individual of the zipping up and zipping down step in the fastening pants process. In doing so the automatic feature, takes away all concern of the fastening pants wardrobe malfunction, also known as, "Your fly's down". For those that are new to the idea of an automatic zipper and concerned about being trapped inside their pants, the zipper holder feature allows the individual to unhitch in as little as a second or two.

Claim

1. Fast to install:

The Automatic Zipper can be installed in under 5 secs.

This makes it convenient to switch between pants quickly.

2. Easy to Use & Worry-free:

The automatic feature is not complex, it can be mastered in a few minutes, which makes it ideal for children and the elderly.

This relieves the individual of the zipping up and zipping down step in the fastening pants process.

The individual will not have to even consider whether his fly is up, because it is no longer an issue.

3. Quick release & Noncommittal:

For first time skeptics who have an unrealistic fear of possibly decapitating their private parts, this device can be used without engaging the automatic feature of the Automatic Zipper. The zipper holder feature will hold the zipper in the up position. If the individual has to use the bathroom or desires to take of his pants, the individual can quickly unhitch the device from the pants’ fly button. And physically pull down the device tethered to the zipper, then pull back up the tethered device to hitch it over the pants’ fly button, when needing to refasten pants (Fig.8).

Unhitching the Automatic Zipper can take as little as 2 secs.

4. Small & Discreet:

The size of the Automatic Zipper allows for it to remain hidden in the fly flap of the pants (Fig.6).

5. Flexible & Glides easily:

The Hook with two eyes distributes the pull evenly, allowing for the zipper to easily glide up and down in the direction it is being pulled (Fig.1). Avoiding jack-knifing, which is common with the one-eyed hook in prior claims. The Hook with two eyes, position of the eyes and the way the Flexible cord is looped through the two eyes makes the Flexible cord less vulnerable to breaking, by distributing the stress of the pull between the hook’s eyes (Fig.14).

The Flexible cord acts as a shock absorber. It also gives the device a little bounce or play when encountering a potential jam.

Description:
Detailed description

1. How to install invention:

To install the Automatic Zipper (Fig.1), first put your pants on and zip the pants’ zipper all the way up.

Second, connect the Hook with two eyes into the pants’ zipper pull tap hole (Fig.2). Third, pull up the Device puller, stretching the Flexible cord tight and then thread the pants’ fly button through the loop of the Automatic Zipper (Fig.5). Once over and around the pants’ fly button, no longer being pulled the Flexible cord shrinks, which eliminates any gap between the Automatic Zipper hook and eyes and the pants’ fly button (Fig.6).

2. How the invention operates:

Once the Automatic Zipper is installed and the user desires to unzip pants, he will hold pants’ button hole flap straight up as he is pulling button flap down (Fig.7). The zipper should automatically glide down.

If user desires to zip pants up, he will hold pants’ button hole flap straight up as he is pulling button flap up. The zipper should automatically glide up (Fig.9).

If user desires to not use the automatic feature and only wants to use the zipper holder feature, he will grab the Device puller and pull up, stretching the Flexible cord tight, he will then unthread the pants’ fly button through the loop of the Automatic Zipper (Fig.8).

3. Components (but are not limited to) & Features of Components:

Hook with two eyes:

The Hook with two eyes distributes the pull evenly, allowing for the zipper to easily glide up and down in the direction it is being pulled. Avoiding jack-knifing, which is common with the one- eyed hook in prior claims. The Hook with two eyes, position of the eyes and the way the Flexible cord is looped through the two eyes makes the Flexible cord less vulnerable to breaking, by distributing the stress of the pull between the hook’s eyes (Fig.13 & Fig.14).

Flexible cord:

The Automatic Zipper is designed with a Flexible cord which expands when pulled to allow it to move snugly around the top of the pants’ fly button.

The Flexible cord tethers the Hook to the Device puller.

The Flexible cord acts as a shock absorber. It also gives the device a little bounce or play when encountering a potential jam (Fig.13 & Fig.14).

Device puller:

The Device puller, can be as simple as, but is not limited to, knotting the two working ends of the Flexible cord together and allowing for the two knotted working ends of the flexible cords to be long enough to grip quickly (Fig.1). The two knotted working ends could have a cap over the top of them to make it easier to grab (Fig.10 & 11). Also, the working ends may be fused together in different ways, other than being knotted together. The purpose of the Device puller is to give the consumer something to grip easily when installing the device or unhitching the device from the fly button.

This also makes it convenient for the consumer to remove the device quickly (Fig.8). Possibly for one who is new and leery to the idea of the self-zipping fly or one who is using this device as just the zipper holder and not for the self-zipping feature (Fig.8).

How the components connect:

The Flexible cord is threaded through both of the eyes of the Flook with two eyes.

The Flexible cord is then knotted with just enough slack to fit somewhat snug over the button of the pants’ fly, leaving the Flexible cord working ends with enough slack to use as a Device puller (Fig.5).

Some sort of cap could be applied over the top of the Device puller to increase its production value (Fig.10 & 11).

4. Other Uses:

The Automatic Zipper is not exclusive to pants, it can be used for anything that is needing a flexible tether and hitch feature. If it does not contradict claims or versions mentioned in this patent application,

The Automatic Zipper can vary in sizes and can be assembled with other material than what was described in this application.
