Disclosed are an automobile sinking self-rescue device and a method for using same. The automobile sinking self-rescue device comprises: a water sensing switch (2) arranged under an automobile engine hood, a wireless signal transmitter (3) connected with the water sensing switch (2), and four air bags (5) correspondingly arranged at four wheels of an automobile respectively, wherein an air valve (4) is arranged between each air bag (5) and the corresponding wheel and is used for controlling the communication between the air bag (5) and a tire of the corresponding wheel; and the air valves (4) are connected to the wireless signal transmitter (3). By means of the automobile sinking self-rescue device and method, in the brief sinking process of the automobile, the air bags are automatically inflated so that the automobile can float. At the same time, when the automobile cannot float smoothly, it is also possible to realize automatic shattering of window glass after submersion, which makes it convenient for the driver and passengers to escape quickly.
