Title:
BARBEQUE COOKING STOVE WITH A LID THAT CAN BE OPENED AND A GRID WHICH IS POSSIBLE TO ADJUST IN RELATION TO THE HEATING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1995/008287
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This invention concerns a closed barbeque cooking stove which is being used for grilling food products. The novelty of the invention is that the grill is provided with a lid which makes it possible to perform the grilling in a closed atmosphere. Indirect grilling is thus performed and the food does not have to be turned while grilling. The grill is also provided with a grid that is possible to adjust in vertical position and a coalbox which makes it possible to find the ideal position in the grill for each food product.

Claims
1. Grill, that may be used both open and closed, in the shape of a traditional boxgrill (1) provided with a specially fastened lid (2) and a grid (3) which is adjustable in vertical position and a coalbox (4).
2. Closed grill according to claim 1 provided with grid and coalbox that are adjustable in vertical position.
Description:
Barbeque cooking stove with a lid that can be opened and a grid which is possible to adjust in relation to the heating device.

Technical field of the invention.

The invention relates to an outdoor cooking device with a lid that can be opened and a grid that can be adjusted in different heights, which makes it possible to find the ideal site for the grid for grilling in a closed grill (indirect grilling).

The construction of the cooking stove is as follows:

The grilling basket is in this case rectangular in cross section but may also have other cross sections and is provided with walls with vertical devices where the grid may be adjusted in different heights depending on the temperature and the products which are to be grilled.

Known construction of outdoor grills.

Outdoor grills of today can be both open or closed.

Normally the open outdoor grills have a shelter around the cooking grid, to make shelter when cooking. In the shelter there are normally slots to adjust the grid in vertical position in relation to the heating device, to regulate the temperature on the grid.

The grilling basket is provided with a lid that may be fast connected and which is arranged so that - when the lid is in closed position - it will be possible to adjust the position of the grid in relation to the heating device so that an ideal position of the grid may be found. Chicken or steak may be

placed on top of the grid. The heating device may be either coal/briquettes or gas/electric heater.

If the it is a grill heated by coal or briquettes the container carrying the coal or briquettes may be adjusted in vertical position.

The closed grill - in the case of charcoal often in the shape of a ball and in the case of gas heated almost always rectangular in shape - is provided with a grid which is fixed in its vertical position. The grid position is not possible to change.

In addition there are today open grills provided with lids for protective or extingushing purpose. These type of lids make it possible to extinguish the cooking stove as soon as the grilling is finished and at the same time protect the grill from wind and weather but these lids are not built to be used while grilling in a closed grill.

Grilling in a closed grill is also done by the indirect method which is to say the heating rays come from all directions, both from the heating device and also indirectly from being reflected from the surrounding sides and the lid. By this method the products to be grilled do not need to be turned so often.

When cooking in a closed grill, the cooking takes place by both direct and indirect heating rays, as the heating rays are also reflected from the lid to the opposite side of the food, which in this way does not have to be turned as much as by only direct cooking.

It is possible to place the heating devices out by the sides of the grill in a closed grill in order to create rotating heating rays that together with a correct placement of the product to be grilled makes it possible to avoid turning of the grilling products altogether.

The technical problem to be solved.

When cooking on an open grill the products to be cooked have to be turned regularly not to be burned. When cooking in a closed grill it is not possible to adjust the grid in vertical position. This makes it difficult to find the ideal position for products of different shapes and sizes.

When cooking on the new invented grill, it is possible to establish not only the right distance between the lid and the cooking grid but also between the cooking grid and burning device, whereby it is not necessary to turn the products to be cooked at all.

The new invention.

By the new invention it is possible to place the products to be cooked on the cooking grid in optimal position and to adjust the cooking grid in vertical position between the lid and the heating device. This makes it possible in a closed grill to achive even grilling on all sides of a product without turning of the grilled pieces. The same principle is used in conventioned kitchen ovens where the grids may be positioned in different heights depending of which products that are to be cooked.

The technical purpose.

By using the above mentioned technique - which is based on a traditionally built basket grill with a grid which can be adjusted in vertical position - combined with a specially constructed lid, it is possible to achieve even grilling on all sides without turning the grilled piece.

The technical background is described as which relating to the figures in the drawing.

Description of the drawings.

Fig. 1 shows a known open boxgrill with a grid adjustable in vertical position. Fig. 2 shows a known ballgrill with a grid. Fig. 3 shows a grill built according to the invention with a specially designed lid which is fastened to the backside of the grill basket and provided with a grid which is adjustable in vertical position. Fig. 4 shows a vertical view of grill and the grilling technique in a closed grill. Fig. 5 shows the principles of the walls for adjusting the grid.

Detailed technical description

Fig. 1 shows a traditional open boxgrill with a grid that can be adjusted in vertical position. The grill may be either a table model or a grill provided with legs.

Fig. 2 shows a traditional closed boxgrill where the grid is in a fixed position.

Fig. 3 shows the new grill with the specially designed lid, that makes it possible to grill with a closed lid but with a grid which is adjustable in vertical position.

Fig. 4 shows the new method and possibility of indirect gilling while adjusting the grid in vertical position in relation to the heard.

Fig. 5 shows the position of the lid in relation to the grid and the coalbox.
