Abstract:
The present invention provides a battery cell for use in a redox flow battery, the battery cell comprising an electrode, a barrier membrane facing one surface of the electrode, and a bipolar plate facing the other surface of the electrode, wherein: the bipolar plate comprising, on the surface thereof that faces the electrode, a channel for an electrolytic solution; the electrode is a porous body including a carbon material; and the thickness-direction compressive strain of the electrode when a surface pressure of 0.8 MPa is applied in the thickness direction of the electrode is 20-60% inclusive.
