Title:
BICYCLE DAMPING ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2000059771
Kind Code:
A9

A bicycle shock absorber for differentiating between rider-induced forces and terrain-induced forces comprising: a first fluid chamber (314) having fluid contained therein; a piston (308) for compressing the fluid within the fluid chamber (314); a second fluid chamber (332) coupled to the first fluid chamber by a fluid communication hose (306); and an inertial valve (322) disposed within the second fluid chamber (332), the inertial valve (322) opening in response to terrain-induced forces and providing communication of fluid compressed by the piston (308) from the first fluid chamber (314) to the second fluid chamber (332); and the inertial valve (322) not opening in response to rider-induced forces and preventing communication of the fluid compressed by the piston (308) from the first fluid chamber (314) to the second fluid chamber (332).
