Abstract:
The present invention provides: a water-based binder for secondary batteries, which can be imparted with excellent bindability and good slurry stability; a composition for a secondary battery electrode mix layer, which can be produced using the binder; and a secondary battery electrode. A binder for secondary battery electrodes, which contains a carboxyl-group-containing polymer or a salt thereof, wherein the carboxyl-group-containing polymer contains a structural unit derived from an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and a structural unit derived from a nitrile-group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer in amounts of 50 to 99.9% by mass inclusive and 0.1 to 4.9% by mass inclusive, respectively, relative to the total amount of all of structural units.
